About

Lindbergh STEM Academy, located in North Long Beach, California, is a middle school with a proud legacy and a forward-thinking approach to education. Originally founded as Lindbergh Junior High School in 1935, the school holds the distinction of being the first secondary school in the area. It was named in honor of famed aviator Charles Lindbergh, who personally attended the school’s groundbreaking and dedication—an early sign of the school's deep connection to innovation and progress.
The school’s current building, a striking example of WPA/PWA Moderne-style architecture designed to resemble an airplane, was constructed after the devastating 1933 Long Beach Earthquake destroyed the original structure. From its earliest days, Lindbergh has stood as a symbol of resilience, community strength, and educational opportunity.
Today, Lindbergh continues to serve students in grades 6 through 8 under the name Lindbergh STEM Academy, reflecting its dynamic focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics—along with the Arts. While its name and programs have evolved, the school remains grounded in its core values: fostering strong relationships, embracing culturally responsive teaching, and promoting social-emotional growth.
Lindbergh STEM Academy is dedicated to nurturing curious minds and developing confident, capable learners. Through rigorous, STEAM-focused instruction and a commitment to equity and inclusion, the school empowers students to become lifelong learners, compassionate leaders, and active contributors to their communities.
Nearly a century since its founding, Lindbergh continues to inspire new generations of Eagles to soar—honoring its past while preparing students for a limitless future.
